Time For Tea?

The image for the Limited Runs progressive challenge on Facbook is this adoreable little mouse in his cup.

DSC_0269(watermarked)

Materials used:
Limited Runs Stamps - Cuppa Mouse
Clever Cut Stamps Away - Verse -A-Tiles
heart die cut (from snippets box)
circle frame die cut (from snippets box)
backing paper (from snippet box) a mop up sheet from playing with Brushos a while back
clear flat-backed gems
black archival ink pad
X-Press It card
Copic pens:
mouse - C0, C1, C3, C5, C7    ear - YR00, E93, E95
cup and saucer - V0000, V000, V12, V15

I have a box which is just full of bits, all those bits that you don't throw away because you might find a use for them one day. That box is now getting over full, almost to the point where the lid will not close. So I decided it was time to raid the box and purely by chance I found some bits I could use with my already coloured image.

The backing paper fills the circle and is a bit of mop up paper from a Brushos session. I think I just dabbed the paper repeatedly on my craft mat to use up the Brusho paint that was still on it. The camera has not really picked up all the colours except the darker parts in the top left section. It acutally has a very subtle mottled colouring of purple, pinky purple and some yellow on it.

The black circle frame and the heart were cut for a project and then discarded as not needed. Although the roses in the heart are more pink than purple it doees work for the project.

Once I had assembled all the elements the card did look a bit flat so I added the gems to give it some dmension.

DSC_0275(watermarked)

I also made a couple of ATC's with smaller versions of the image I had printed out to practice on, that used up a couple more bits.

Thanks for stopping by. Take care.

Penguin Trio

It's the midway point of the Welcome to the North Pole challenge at Scribbles Designs. This time I have a set of 3 penguin ATC's to share with you. For those who do not already know I am mad about penguins!

DSC_0356(watermarked).JPGDSC_0353(watermarked).JPGDSC_0352(watermarked).JPG

Materials used:Scribbles Designs - Three B's Trio
We are 3 Digital - Watercolour Batik
Copic pens
X-Press It card
printer card

The pengins are printed on X-Press It card, coloured with Copics and fussy cut.

The ATC bases are made from a Watercolour Batik paper printed on printer card, cut to size and edged with a black pen.  I chose the most wintery looking design from the set.
There are a couple of weeks left to enter this challenge so why not have a go, it's a good excuse to try out any new crafting goodies left by Santa! You could even combine it with making your 'Thank You' letters/cards.  All the details can be found on the Scribbles Designs Blog.

I hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year. Thanks for taking time out from the celebrating to visit. Take care.

Scribbles Designs welcomes you to the North Pole

I am cheating a bit here because I freely confess I completely forgot that today is the start of the new challenge at Scribbles Designs. This time we are off to the North Pole. Because of my memory lapse I have used an ATC I made with the practice image from the Santa's Coming to Town day of the Carol challenge.

SAM_5043(watermarked).JPG

Materials used:Scribbles Designs -  Santa's Coming
designer background paper
X-Press It card
black card
Copic pens
gel glue

Santa has been coloured then fussy cut. The ATC base is made from a snippet of black card with a mat of designer paper also from the snippets box. The image is slightly embossed and attached with gel glue to give a bit of dimension.

I do hope you will be able to join in with our challenge this month. Since The North Pole is such a special place for the Brrr family, they would really like your creations for this challenge to include an element that might be found in the North Pole (fantasy version of course). Examples include: elf type images, Santa, Mrs Claus, presents, toys, images that have a sign for the North Pole in them, penguins of course, reindeer, polar bears, etc.

The Brrr Family will actually be adding their votes to the Top Picks for this challenge so you'll definitely want to do them proud!

Also while I am here just a reminder that there is still time to enter our Christmas Carol Challenge. There is a different task each day relating to carols (card making optional for one task). Hopefully if you click on the badge it should take you to the final day of the challenge where you can find links to all the other days.

The closing date for entries is not 5th December but the 5th of January so you still have time to play along.

Next year Scribbles Designs is 5 years old and we have a DT call for some additional team members. If you are interested or want to find out  more about it then click here and it will take you to the post with all the details.

Thanks for swinging by. Take care.

Anything But A Card at Bugaboo

On Mondays at Bugaboo Stamps we feature projects that are not cards. I have a confession to make, I completly missed that it was my turn to do a sample so this has been a bit of a rush job.

SAM_5036(watermarked).JPG
Materials used:Bugaboo Digi Stamps - Tree Bench
Bugaboo Digi Stamps - Ava Christmas Sitter
Bugaboo Digi Stamps - Deacon Elf Sitter
X-Press It card
Copic pens
designer card from stash

All three images used were combined in one image before being printed out then coloured in.

The designer card is cut to an ATC size card and the coloured image stuck on.

Thanks for dropping by. Take care.

Love To Craft Challenge For September

A new month and a new challenge at Love To Craft. As always our theme is Anything Goes and any craft goes. So if you are not so much a paper crafter, more a knitter, sewer, cross stitcher or into crochet this is the challenge for you. As it says on our blog: We are an all-crafts challenge blog and welcome any and all kinds of handmade creations - from cards, tags, ATCs and scrapbook layouts - to 3-D projects, mixed media canvases and altered projects - and even knitting, crocheting, quilting and jewelry-making! Whatever you're working on, we want to see it!

This time around I decided to show you some ATC's I've made. If you are a regular visitor to my blog you may well recognise some of the images. When printing out an image for a card I try to use up as much space as I can so often print out smaller versions to practice on. If the practice is not too dire I turn them into ATC's. I belong to a swap group - the UK Stampers Network where members swap ATC's  with each other. I have put in the link if you are interested in finding out more and possibly joining in the fun. We do not only swap ATC's there are other lists you can join in with. All the details are on the web site.

ATC Selection (September 2017)

acrylic text stamp from magazine
black archival ink pad
various coloured card
X-Press It card

gems
small letter dies
gold paper

These are just a selection of some of my personal favourites. It is quite challenging colouring very small images but also very therapeutic.

I hope you will join us this month at the Love to Craft Challenge. You have the whole month to come up with something and remember it can be any sort of crafting you like as long as it is hand made.

Thanks for visiting. Take care.

Doodle Time With Scribbles Designs

Have you had a go at the challenge over at Scribbles Designs yet? The theme is 'Use Your Noodle To Doodle'.  It is half way through so not too late to get an entry in. The challenge finishes on 14th of August.

This time I have made a couple of ATC's. One is Zentangled and the other is a throwback to the pattern making we used to do when I was a child, basically take a pencil for a walk and colour in the shapes made in the process.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:
Scribbles Designs - #B04 Frame 4
black pen
X-Press It card
red card
black card
Copic pens

Print out the image to the required size to fit an ATC. On the coloured one I took a pencil for a walk making swirls and interconnections. For the black and white one I made a 'string' in the same way then filled each space with tangles. Trim the images to size.

Cut two ATC cards, one red and one black. Attach the doodled images to the ATCs.

Did anyone spot the error in the photo? Both the ATC's are upsidedown! (The hearts in the corners give it away.)

I hope we will see you at the Scribbles Designs Challenge.  All the information about how to enter and the prizes on offer are on the blog.

Thanks for taking time to visit. Take care.

Love to Craft Midway Inspiration

We are at the halfway point of this month's Love to Craft Challenge and time for some inspiration. This time I have made an ATC to share with you.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES
Materials used:A lot of bits from my snippets box!

This little ATC card is made up entirely of bits and pieces from my snippets box. The horses head is from some colouring practice a while back which I did not know what to do with at the time.

The  ATC blank is cut from a piece of black card left over from a previous project as is the stable door. The door outline and hinges are drawn by hand with a black pen (now you see why I don't draw!)

I acutally surprised myself when this all came together, a rare moment of inspiration!

Please do come and join in the fun at Love to Craft. We are an all-crafts challenge blog and welcome any and all kinds of handmade creations - from cards, tags, ATCs and scrapbook layouts - to 3-D projects, mixed media canvases and altered projects - and even knitting, crocheting, quilting and jewelry-making! Whatever you're working on, we want to see it!

Thanks for visiting. Take care.

Pansy Sprite

Aurora Wings were offering a lovey free sprite digi stamp this month and as their challenge theme is Sprites only I thought I would give it a try.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:
Aurora Wings - Pansy Sprite (not yet in store)
X-Press It card
watercolour paper
Color Burst powders
blue and red card
acrylic greetings stamp
black archival ink pad
Copic pens

Pansy Sprite coloured with Copics then fussy cut. Mat made from a piece of watercolour paper 'painted' with Color Burst. This came from my stash box and was made quite a while ago. It was pure coincidence that the colours went.

The image is matted on the Color Burst painted paper then layered onto red and blue card before atttaching to the front of an A5 card blank.

The greeting is stamped at the bottom of the card in black.

My sprite has been made up of two different colour ways, well it's different!

When printing up my images I like to use as much of the space on the card as I can so I often print out smome smaller versions for practicing with. If these go well then they can be made up into ATC's. I managed a couple of sprites that were good enough to use.

ATC's with Scribbles Designs

Time for another inspiration post for Scribbles Designs and this time I have used one of the lovely flower sets to make some ATC's.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:
Scribbles Designs - Flower Set 2
X-Press It card
pink, purple and red card snippets
Copic pens

I put the whole design together on an ATC template I made in Word then printed them out on X-Press It card. I could fit 9 ATC's on an A4 sheet.

The designs have been coloured with Copics in three colourways then trimmed a little and matted on matching coloured card cut to ATC size (2.5 x 3.5 inches). Trying to get the shading on such tiny roses was a big challenge!

ATC's are a great way of using up bits of scrap card and also of practicing designs that could then be enlarged on bigger cards. If I have inspired you, why not head over to the Scribbles Design Blog to see the latest challenge. There you will find a link to the challenge and a link to the Scribbles Designs Shop.

Thanks for visiting today. Take care.

Return of the Stamp of the Month Challenge at From The Heart Stamps

After a break the Stamp of the Month challenge has returned to From the Heart Stamps. With it being February the image this time is very suitable for Valentine's Day and is a little different from the usual images associated with the celebration. I chose to use it on a couple of ATC's.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:From the Heart Stamps - Hogs and Kisses PigwitX-Press It! card
Copic pens
snippets of white card

Pigwit has been printed out on the X-Press It! card at the correct size for an ATC. The image is coloured with Copics and the heart added free-hand.

The image has been trimmed to ATC size and stuck to a piece of scrap white card slightly smaller.

Finally a black Copic has been run around the outside edges.
This is a progressive challenge so if you enter this month you automatically get the next challenge image free. It keeps going until you miss a month. There are still a few days left to enter, so if you are interested in having a go here is some helpful information:

I've never done this before!

Ok, so what have I never done before, you  may well ask. Nothing as remarkable as ski down the Mattehorn but still a significant happening in my life! (I really do need to get out more!) I have made a'card' for a specific challenge that is not a progressive freebie one!

Materials used: SAM_2666(watermarked)
Sarn's Sarntangle Rubber Stamp Set (these were a limited edition that have now sold out but you can get some digi ones from her blog: Stamping For Pleasure.)
X-Press It card cut to ATC size
Copic pens
Copic multiliner
Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad

The stamp starts (or ends if you turn it around the other way) with the swirl which I have used as the 'p' in Spring. I added the other letters with the multiliner pen trying to make it look like the swirls in the original stamp.

The leaves and swirls are coloured with the Copics in spring colours (although when I Googled Spring colours it came up with just about every colour in the rainbow and more!)

The black border is added freehand using the multiliner pen.

Now if I am being honest, the reason I have never made anything for a specific challenge, other than progressive freebies, is that I am never organised enough but I was determined to do this one maily so I can plug Sarn's stamps and her fantastic blog, which is well worth a visit, but also so I can feel the ink and rubber again after all the digi stamping I have been doing.

Thanks for stopping by. Take care.

Day 3 of Christmas Chaos

On the third day of Chaos,  Catch the Bug gave to me, an interesting colour challenge! I do recall having a go at a colour challenge before but it was a while ago.
xmaxchaos2015color
I see brown greys and dusky rose pinks in this so that is the colour scheme I have used for my card.

Materials used:SAM_2497(watermarked)
Bugaboo Stamp - Christmas SB Ornament
15 cm square white card blank
grey card
2 designer Christmas papers from stash
white stamping card
fancy edge cutting die (freebie from a magazine but I think it is Die'sire)
Copic pens
small snowflake stamp (Creative Stamping Magazine)
black archival ink pad

Method:
Print out the image to the desired size and colour in with the Copics. (I have tried to stick as close to the colours in the photo as I could, but the holly had to be green!) Stamp out the little snowflakes in black ink along the middle of the bauble.

Use the die to cut the top left corner then cut the image square from that corner. Back onto grey card cutting around all the edges.

Cover the front of the card blank with one paper and mat the image onto another. Attach the matted image to the front of the card.

SAM_2498(watermarked)I also made a couple of ATC's using the smaller images I had printed to test the colours on.

I am now only two days behind so I may catch up in time! Thanks for popping in. Take care.

Deedee sponsoring the Clear it Out Challenge

Deedee's Digi's is sponsoring the latest Clear It Out Challenge with the theme of anything goes. For my sample I used the Wise Men set to make a card and an ATC.

Materials used:SAM_2403(watermarked)
Deedee's Digis - Wise Men
Derwent colouring paper
Polychromo pencils
silver  and gold pens
black pen
artists chalks in blues and yellows
black , cream and blue card
small greetings foam stamp

Method:
Print out the image to the size required. Colour the wise men  with pencils and the background with chalk. Trim and edge with a silver pen. Add silver and gold to the star, the middle wise man's crown and accents on the presents.

Trim the coloured image to size and mat onto black card.

Cover the front of the card blank with blue card slightly smaller in size to leave a white border around the edges. Attach the topper at the top of the card and stamp the sentiment underneath in the middle.

SAM_2401(watermarked)For the ATC print out the image at the correct size and colour as before. Edge the image and a cream ATC blank with a black pen and attach the image to the ATC card.

Sadly Deedee is closing down at the end of the year so if you like her images you need to get them now, there is even a 75% sale going on so what are you waiting for?

A week of chaos at Bugaboo!

Bugaboo stamps have just started a week of chaos with a challenge every day for a week. This year I am hoping to get an entry in for each one so be warned it could mean more than one post on a couple of days!

The first challenge is Anything goes with a 'Here comes Santa Claus' theme. I chose to make a quick and easy ATC card.

Materials used:SAM_2493(watermarked)
Bugaboo stamp - Sign it Santa
acrylic greeting stamp
black archival ink
Stamping card
Copic pens

Method:
Print out the image at the required size, colour in with the pens then cut to ATC size.

Use black ink and the greeting stamp to add a sentiment to the sign Santa is holding then run a black pen around the edges.

I did say it was a quick project but it was all time allows. As Christmas approaches it does get busier and the past few days have been spent editing the film of our Key Stage 1 Nativity. It's quite a fiddly job lining up the right narration with the right clips in the right order but I think I have cracked it now!

Playing with photographs

Sometimes it is difficult to find just the right background for a project. I wanted to use the girl from the progressive freebie image from Dragons Lair and put her in front of a tree. Of course I did not decide this until after I had printed her out and coloured her in which made finding a suitable tree somewhat tricky. Then I remembered that I took some photographs of Stourhead (a local National Trust property) decorated for Christmas last year. Problem solved!

Materials used:SAM_2417(watermarked)
Dragons Lair Free Digital Image
blending card
Copic pens
designer card from Trimcraft Silent Night pad
printer card
white tulle
A5 white card blank

Method:
Print out the image to the required size and colour in with the Copic pens.  Fussy cut the image (I  cut the fairy off mine because I did not want to use it this time.)

Print out the background photo to the required size and trim.

Cover the front of an A5 card blank with the designer card then attach the photo.

Glue the girl to the card with 3d glue or foam pads.

Finally tie a knot in the middle of a length of tulle and glue to the left side of the card.

SAM_2419(watermarked)

I also made a couple of ATC's while I was at it. I usually print out a smaller size of the image I am using to try out colours on. Most of the time these smaller images now turn out not too bad and make good ATC's.

Thank you for dropping in. Take care.

I've got my silly head on today!

Birdbrain features in this month's image for the free stamp of the month challenge over at From the Heart Stamps. For some reason this image just tickled my sense of humour!

Materials used:SAM_2407(watermarked)
From the Heart - Deck the Halls Birdbrain
white stamping card
patterned paper and card from stash
A5 white card blank
Copic pens
square dies

Method:
Print out the image and sentiment to the size you require.

Colour image with Copics then die cut the image and trim the sentiment to size and edge with a black pen.

Die cut a mat slightly larger for the image and cut a mat for the sentiment out of patterned paper and again edge with a black pen before attaching image and sentiment.

Attach both toppers to the front of the card.

SAM_2412(watermarked)For the ATC print and colour images as for the card. (I cropped out the bauble and resized it to make the inchie.) Cut images to size and edge with a black pen.

Cut and ATC blank from patterned card and attach toppers to it.

Anything but a card.

Deedee's Digis  is sponsoring the Allsorts Challenge which runs for a week  from today. The theme this week is 'Anything But a Card'. My DT samples for this challenge are a gift bag and a couple of very quick ATC's.

Materials used:SAM_2398(watermarked)
Deedee's Digi Stamp Set - Polar Peace (still at special offer price)
1" square punch
stamping card
silver mirri card
black sparkle card
Trimcraft Silent Night designer card
x - cut gift bag die
Copic pens
silver pen

Method:
Print out the images at the desired size onto the blending card and colour in with the Copics and the silver pen (for the stars).

Use the die to cut the bag out of designer card. Glue the two parts together but do not make up the bag, keep it so it still lies flat.

Mat the image onto silver mirri card leaving a narrow border around the edges. Then attach the matted image onto the front of the bag.

Join the last edge of the bag and secure the bottom with glue.

SAM_2395(watermarked) SAM_2394(watermarked)

For the ATC's print out a smaller image and colour in. Trim down to make up the two panels.

To make the stars crop the image so that you only have the star and resize accordingly. (I made mine so they would fit on an inchie.) Colour the stars with the silver pen and punch them out.

Cut the ATC blanks from black sparkle card and arrange the elements on the front before sticking them down.

This will not be the last outing for this particular set from Deedee there is still one more make to come before the end of the month!

Thanks for dropping by. Take care.

Materials used:SAM_2327(watermarked)
Deedee's Digi Set - Pumpkin Patch
Clarity Stamps - Birdhouse Garden
Stamping card
Archival Black ink pad
Copics

Method:
I printed out the scarecrow image onto white stamping card and coloured the image with Copics. I then trimmed it to the size I wanted then edged it with the black ink pad. I added the crows to his arm and the sky using the Clarity stamps and black ink.

There is still time to have ago at the challenge yourself. Don't forget if you enter this month you get the image for next month absolutely free, so everyone's a winner!

Thanks for dropping by. Take care.

Here be Dragons!

Not so much dragons more Dragons Lair Designs Facebook Challenge. This is a new progressive challenge I came across while catching up with various groups and friends on Facebook. The Dragons Lair Fan Page is a closed group so you need to request to join. You then request the image on the understanding that you will make and post a project using it. If you do not enter you will be excluded from the next freebie image. The image for the current challenge is a great one for those tricky male cards.

Materials used:SAM_2366(watermarked)
Dragons Lair Image from Facebook Group
acrylic greetings stamps
black archival ink
red, black, and cream card stock
stamping card
15cm white square card base
various designer papers from stash
Copics

Method:
I printed out my images to the required size, one for a card and two for ATC's, then coloured them with the Copics. I cut the background from the centres of the images and backed them using designer papers then cut around the outer edge of the images to form my toppers.

For the card I used the card blank to make up an easel card and covered the front and inside with the red and cream card leaving thin border of red one each edge. I attached the topper to the front then stamped 'cheers' in the bottom right corner. I stamped 'happy birthday' onto a scrap of the cream card and matted it onto a slightly larger piece of red card then attached it inside the card with foam pads to make the stopper.

SAM_2369(watermarked)To make up the ATC's I cut the blanks from red card then added a smaller piece of black card on top before attaching my image. I used the 'cheers' stamp on cream card matted onto red card and attached it to the bottom of the ATC.

If Dragons Lair is new to you, why not visit their page and check out what they are up to. There is plenty of inspiration and it may even encourage you to have a go at the challenge yourself.

Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

Wrapped up warm and cosy for Winter

Here in the UK the temperature has definitely been dropping over the past few days. We are still enjoying sunny days and blue skies but the sun is loosing it's warmth and the days are ever shortening. It's time to unearth those woolly jumpers, hats, gloves, scarves and thermals that have been languishing in the back of drawers and dark corners of cupboards over the Summer. The little girl in the image for this month's progressive freebie challenge on the Art By Mi Ran Facebook page is well and truly wrapped up against the cold.

Materials used:SAM_2362(watermarked)

Method:
I printed out my image to the size I wanted along with 3 ATC sized images and coloured them all in with the Copics, using the paint pen to add the stars in the sky. I trimmed my imaged and matted it onto black card. I fun flocked her hat, muff, cape and dress trim and added Diamond Sparkles to her hat and muff. I covered the holly sprig with glossy accents to that it did not get lost in the fun flock.

Using the A4 white card I embossed it with the snowflakes embossing folder and folded it into an A5 card blank. I mounted my topper onto the front of the card. I die cut a snowflake from a snippet of white card, covered it with Diamond Sprinkles and attached it to my card.

I have not put a greeting on the front of the card so that it could be used for a winter birthday or Christmas once I have decided which to go for!

Thank you for visiting. Take care.
