Deedee's September DOM

It's that time again, the start of the new challenge at Deedee's Digis. This time Deedee has come up with a cute autumn elephant.

Materials used:
Deedee's Digi DOM - Leaf Your Cares Behind
white A5 card blank
blending card
light brown and dark brown card
leaf punches
Brushos in autumnal colours
watercolour card
Spray and Shine
Copic pens

Method:
I printed out the image three times along with the sentiment, one of the images I printed onto watercolour paper. I coloured two elephants using copics and cut them out. The base image I coloured with Brushos and then sprayed with Spray and Shine before cutting it out. I punched some leaves from the left over bits of brusho coloured paper. I attached one complete elephant image over the one on the base image and just the head from the final image on top to give a 3d effect. I matted and layered my topper and sentiment onto the two shades of brown card then attached them to the card front. Finally I added my punched out leaves.

I am ashamed to say it has been ages since I last had a play with the brushos but I am glad I did! It is amazing how many different colour appear when the crystals are sprayed with water, artistic alchemy!

The card that generated the snippet!

A couple of posts back I made a card using a rose image I found in the snippets box. I now know where that rose came from, it was the extra 'just in case' image from the card I made for my daughter and son-in-law's 4th wedding anniversary.

Materials used:
Aurora Wings - Rose Corner #2
stamping card
heart shaped die set
Memento London Fog ink pad
silver peel offs
Copic pens

Method:
I printed out my image and coloured it with Copics. I then cut it out with a heart die then inked around the edge with the London Fog and a blending tool. I made the backing paper on the computer and used the traditional and modern anniversary gifts repeated over the whole sheet. I cut a large heart aperture from the front of the backing paper then attached it to the front of the card blank. I then cut a slightly smaller heart from white card and stuck that to the card front, finally I added my rose topper using foam pads. I used silver peel offs to add the greeting and the anniversary number. At least I think that is what I did, I cannot remember now - the anniversary was a month ago!!

I am going to have to either blog the cards quicker or make a note of everything I do when I make them, my memory is getting really bad! Thank you for visiting. Take care.

Deedee's August DOM

If you have not already done so there is still time to enter Deedee's Digi's Progressive Challenge and to make it even easier for you she has provided a free image to use, so there is no excuse!

Materials used:
Deedee's DOM - Seasonal Baskets or Freebie Christmas Seasonal Basket (scroll down the post to find the images)
Blending card
Core'dinations card stock in two browns
white A5 card blank
large peach coloured button
snippet of peach wide satin ribbon
Copic pens
small black peel off greeting

Method:
I printed the image to the size I required and coloured it with the Copics. I then trimmed it and matted and layered it onto two shades of brown card. I attached my topper to the card front and added the peel off greeting at the bottom of the frame. Finally I threaded the ribbon through the button, trimmed the ends and attached to the card under the topper.

Why not have a go at Deedee's challenge yourself. If you do not like colouring she also provides pre-coloured images to use. If you need one more incentive, everyone who enters gets the image for the following month free of charge.

I found a rose in the snippets box!

I am off on my travels again tomorrow so have just got time to post a quick card I made up yesterday. If you are anything like me you have probably got a stash of images stamped/printed out, some waiting to be coloured and some already coloured. I was having a sort out for some images to take away to do and discovered in my snippets box an already coloured one, as it fitted with a couple of challenges I thought I would make it up.

Materials used:
Aurora Wings - Rose Corner #2
acrylic small words stamps
tuxedo black memento ink pad
Docrafts Vintage Notes Dies - Doily
circle die set
Tonic embossing folder - Amelia
red gloss coated tissue paper
silver fibre fabric (it was my place mat at a wedding a few years back)
silver mirri card
Copic pens
stamping card
15cm square white card blank

Method:
I took my already coloured image  and die cut it with a circle die and stamped the sentiment onto it. I also die cut a slightly bigger circle from the silver fibre fabric (actually the die didn't cut it but it did leave a line to follow with scissors) and a doily from the red tissue. I used the embossing folder to emboss a sheet of silver mirri card.

I ran a red Copic pen around the edges of the front of my card blank then covered it with a piece of the embossed silver card slightly smaller to leave a red border. I then attached the doily, silver fibre fabric and image to the card front.

Apart from using up a snippet I also had a bit of fun experimenting with different textures, not my usual style at all, but I think it worked.

Nature's clock

Another grey day here in Somerset, looks as if the sun has gone on holiday! So here is a cheerful card made with this month freebie image from The Outlawz Progressive Freebie Challenge.

Materials used:
Digi stamp - Wishful Asha (available from Outlawz Challenges)
blending card
yellow card
shimmer white paper
white enamel accents
Copic pens
archival black ink pad
circle and scalloped circle dies
Britannia flower and leaf dies (new!)

Method:
I printed out my image and coloured it in with Copic pens. I cut it out with a circle die and cut a mat out of yellow card with a scalloped circle die. I cut out the flowers and leaves I needed with the Britannia dies from white shimmer paper and used Copic pens to colour them before assembling them.

I attached my topper, flowers and leaves to the card and added gems to the centre of the flowers. I put dots of the enamel accents on the dandelion clock to make it look like the seed heads. Finally I stamped the greeting at the bottom.

Unusually for us we are off again next week for a few days, no television and no wi-fi! We are staying in a property owned by the Landmark Trust. It used to be where the stoker lived when the pump engine (next door) was working. The stoker had to make sure the engine was running to keep the water level in the canal stable. It looks like an interesting place to stay, something a bit different.

A request for future happiness, otherwise know as 'At last'!

Back in July our youngest daughter got engaged. We knew it was on the way because her now fiancé had already asked permission. Being a card maker I could hardly go out and buy one but I did want to make something a little special. I think I succeeded.

Materials used:
Spesch Designer Stamps - Engagement
Accordion card die set
heart and flowers peel offs
white blending card
Copic pens
green and blue adirondack ink pads
centura pearl card
small silver gem

Method:
I printed out the image and coloured it with Copics before cutting out the two people separately. Using the die set I cut out the pages for my card from Centura Pearl card and then the inner circles from stamping card. (The final circle was cut from card which had the sentiment printed on it, I used my computer for that.) On two of the circles I used the inks and a blending brush to create grass and sky backgrounds to mount my figures onto. I stuck the circles to the card and then added the boy and girl to two and the peel offs to the third.Finally I added my very small silver gem to the ring in the box.
