February Challenge at Love To Craft

It's time for Challenge 19 at Love To Craft, the challenge that covers everything! Come play with us! We are an all-crafts challenge blog and welcome any and all kinds of handmade creations - from cards, tags, ATCs and scrapbook layouts - to 3-D projects, mixed media and altered projects - and even knitting, crocheting, quilting and jewelry-making! Whatever you're working on, we want to see it! :)

This month I have some knitting to share with you. My daughter's father-in-law is a keen jigsaw puzzler but he already has plenty of jigsaws to keep him going so this Christmas I made him a cushion with a jigsaw cover.

DK wool in various colours

This was a fun project to make, if a bit fiddly. I used yarn bobbins, a different one for each colour, which made the colour changes easier. Finding buttons was not so easy. I liked the idea of haveing buttons to match the colours in the cushion but could not find a complete set of the same type and size. In the end I opted for 'rainbow' ones which worked really well.

Off the needles

We are in the middle of celebrating Christmas for the third time!  Our youngest daughter, Rachel,  was working over Christmas and New Year so has not been home until now.  The tree and decorations are still up and tomorrow is presents!  Needless to say there has not been a lot of time for craftiness so I am cheating and sharing a project I finished last year.

Rachel wanted a red jumper to replace a much loved bought one that had worn out.  So the challenge was to find a pattern and get it knitted in time. Unexpectedly finding a pattern was the hardest part, in the end I had to adapt one.  Thankfully it was done in time for Christmas and was one present that Rachel could open on Christmas Day itself - we delivered it a couple of weeks before hand.

So here is a picture of the finished jumper, knitted in 4 ply.  The collar does fold down over her shoulders if she wants it too.

Even more satisfying than finishing it on time is that Rachel loves it.
