acrylic sentiment stamp
black archival ink pad
X-Press It card
printer paper
5x7" card blank
Copic pens:
mother: E97, E08, E19, W7
little brown bunny: E31, E33, E35, E39
little grey bunny: W0, W1, W3, W5, W7
ears: E93, E95, YR02

red egg: R29, R39, R59, R89
green egg: YG03, YG17, YG67, G29
purple egg: V05, RV66, RV69, VO9, V99

I have used two copies of the image, fussy cutting the adult from one image and layering it on top of the other image.

Those bunnies look really mischievous hiding behind mum, although I don't think I would object too much if they threw Easter eggs at me!

I hope you will check out the new release at Bugaboo Digi Stamps and take a look at all the other  wonderful images they have. For more inspiration visit  the Catch the Bug Blog where you can also find details of our two challenges.

Thanks for visiting. Take care.

Ike's Art First Progressive Challenge

Ike of Ike's World fame has started a new progressive challenge on her Facebook Page and offered this little cutie for the starting image.

DSC_0720(watermarked)
Materials used:Ike's Art - Funny Dog (available from Facebook page)
Imagine That Digistamp - Puppy Love (for the sentiment)
designer card from stash
X-Press It card
scalloped edge die
small googly eyes
Copic pens:
dark fur: E41, E43, E44, E47, E49
light fur: E31, E33, E35, E39
nose and tail: W3, W5, W7, W9
eyes: E37, E39, E29, E40

The image comes with out the patches, I have added them. I thought with his paw out like that he looks as if he is going to hug someone! With that thought in my head the sentiment from the Imagine That Digistamp seemed appropriate.

Thanks for popping by. Take care.

Progressive Freebie at Scrapper's Delights

There is something rather special about progressive challenges, everyone is a winner! They can also be something of a challenge especially when the image takes you out of your comfort zone and is not one you would necessarily choose. However with this image I was on safer ground.

DSC_0703(watermarked).JPG

DSC_0704(watermarked).JPG
Materials used:
Scrapper's  Delights - Sleeping Baby Boo
Scrapbook Gems - Baby Girl Digital Papers
Scrapbook Gems - Baby Boy Digital Papers
X-Cut doily die
banner and greeting acrylic stamps
black archival ink pad
X-Press It card
printer paper
blue and pink buttons
art chalks and applicator
Copic pens:
skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, R20
babygrow boy - B21, B23, B24     buttons - B28
babygrow girl - R81, R83, R85, R56    buttons - R89, R39

The backing papers and the papers for the die cut doily are printed from the Scrapbook Gems sets. The banners are shaded using chalks.

I could not make a girl card and not a boy one as well.

I recently bought a metal shim for my die cutting machine because I was not getting a clean cut from some of my more intricate dies. I am happy to say that it worked a treat and for the first time I managed a clean cut with just one pass instead of having to go backwards and forwards several times. They really do work. However a word to the wise, the first time I used it I followed a YouTube video but the demonstrator had positioned the metal sheet and dies so the dies cut into it, instead of the sheet being ontop of the dies. Luckily no serious damage was done to either the die or the plate, just a bit dented.

Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

Gerda Steiner Progressive Challenge

Another great image from a progressive challenge. I wonder if the cat was reading bedtime stories!

silver peel-off greeting
Copic pens:

cactus flower: R81, R83, R85
mouse: E31, E33, E35, E39     tail: YR61, E95
book page edges: E50, E51, E53
book covers: yellow - Y13, Y15, Y17
purple - V01, V12, V15, V17
blue - B21, B23, B24
green - YG11, YG13, YG17
brown - E03, E19, E18
soil: E44, E47, E49
plant pot: B24, B28, B39
shelf: R28, R39, R59, R89

I have used two copies of the image, the first one cut out whole and just the items on the shelf cut out from the second image to decoupage on top so there is some dimension.

The background designer paper is supposed to look a bit like wallpaper.

Thanks for visiting. Take care.

A new challenge for a librarian

Before my accidental career as a Teaching Assistant I trained as a librarian so I was thrilled to discover a new challenge, 'The Library Challenge'. Each challenge takes a book as it's inspiration, unfortunately I missed the first one but just have time to enter the second one which takes 'The Hobbit' as it's theme. There are so many paths to follow but I have stuck to dragons.

DSC_0724(watermarked)

Materials used:
Creative Stamping - Enchantment Collection
Christina Griffiths Card Making Magic Complete Card and Box Die Set 5x7"
5x7" card blank
patterned vellum
black card
white card
Make 'it' Colour blending card
Copic pens:
green skin: G02, G17, G29, G99
purple skin: V05, RV66, RV69, V09, V99
yellow claws, spines, horns and flame: Y13, Y15, Y17
wing spines: C5, C7, C9, 100
wing membrane and eye: R29, R39, R59, R89
orange flame: YR14, YR16, YR07
shadow: W00, W0, W1

The card blank is covered with black card and the vellum cut with a die from the set. The vellum pattern did not show up very well on top of the black mat so I cut an identical mat out of white card to go between the layers.

I used a different blending card this time but did not feel it blended as well. To be fair it just may be a case of using it a bit more and getting used to it so I may have another go in the future.

The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings are among the books that I have read many times. I have also watched the films. I have to say the films were disappointing in some areas. The Lord of the Rings left out the cleansing of the shire at the end and the battle scenes were too long. Why they felt they had to get 3 films out of the Hobbit beats me. So with the omission of too many important story lines and characters in the films give me the books anytime.

I am still keeping an eye on the advert situation so if you come across any please do let me know.

Thank you for dropping in. Take care.

More Shades of Yellow

Before I tell you about today's card I wondered if you could do me a favour. I have let the payment for 'no ads' expire to see if, in fact, it is worth having. Please could you let me know if the ads are annoying and what they are for. When I look at my blog I don't see them so I have no idea what is happening. Thank you so much.

It's the half way point of the challenge at Path of Positivity with the optional theme of Shades of Yellow. We have two wonderful sponsors with some great prizes for this month's challenge.

There is something so cheerful about daisies, even the common white ones covering the lawn! One of my favourite films is 'You've Got Mail' and towards the end there is a scene where Joe (Tom Hanks) visits a sick Kathleen (Meg Ryan) and gives her a bunch of daisies, which she then describes as the 'friendliest flower'. (There's a clip here if you want to see it.) I, for one,Image result for yellow gerbera daisy flower would not argue over that and while when I think 'daisy' I usually picture the white ones they are available in other colours, especially yellow.
I hope this bunch of friendly yellow daisies makes you smile!

Our challenge is Anything Goes with the optional theme of Shades of Yellow. If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize for Most Inspirational. We’d also love to find out how this month’s colour makes you feel, if you’d like to share that with us. What kinds of feelings does the colour YELLOW evoke in you? You can write a sentence or two in the body of your post, write a sentence at the bottom of your post next to the link up for this challenge, or simply leave a comment on this post if you’d like.

The prizes on offer for this challenge are:

  • A $10 gift certificate from Limited Runs, one of our guest sponsors this month, for the post or project that the team deems most inspiring of the bunch.

  • A $10 gift certificate from Imagine That Digistamp, the second of our guest sponsors this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all entrants.

We also have a call out for guest design team members. If you think this is something you might like to  have a go at please put GDT after you name in the link up or leave a comment on this post or leave a comment on the Path of Positivity Blog post then Lisa or a member of the DT will get back to you with more information. There is no experience necessary and you get to work with some fantastic images. If you have been thinking of having a go now is your chance.

Bunny Hopping With Scribbles Designs

Another challenge at Scribbles Designs and this time the theme is Bunny Hop. You need to use a bunny or rabbit as the main focus of your project.

DSC_0659(watermarked)

Materials used:Scribbles Designs: #406 B Bunny
Imagine That Digistamp: Flamingo Dress Up
Claritystamp: Clouds Stencil
X-Press It card
white glossy card
Adirondak ink pads: Stonewashed and Meadow
silver peel-off greeting

Grey Bunny: C0, C1, C3, C5  inner ears: E000, E00, R11

The rabbit was printed out twice with one image flipped. Rabbits and balloons were coloured then fussy cut.

The background was made using Adirondak inks on glossy card. The little flower heads are hand drawn using sharpie pens. The balloon strings are added with a black micron pen.

I have decided to list the colours I have used just in case anyone is interested. If you have better colour combinations that you used I would love to hear. I am still very much learning about Copic blends as I go along and am restricted to the colours I have which while quite a few now still has gaps.

The challenge at Scribbles Designs lasts for a month and it would be lovely to see you there. All the details are on the blog.

In case you missed the post on the Scribbles Designs blog here is the winner of the image from my blog in the Birthday Party Blowout celebrations.

TERRI you have won

Humor Me Wednesday International Working Women's Day!

Scrapbook Gems is a new store to me, not sure that it has been around for long. They really are a gem though having just the sort of DP I needed to finish this card. I was stuck until I found them!  They have a wide range of papers and are well worth a visit. I expect I shall be adding more papers to my stash in the future.

Shades of Yellow

Today sees the start of a new challenge at Path of Positivity. Continuing with our year of colours this month it is the turn of Yellow.

DSC_0580(watermarked).JPG

Materials used:Imagine That Digistamp - Leesa's Swing
Card Making Magic The Christina Collection - Complete Card & Box Die Set 5x7"
Britannia Dies - Medium Multiflower Rose
Britannia Dies - Leaf Strip
Pink Frog - Ice Crystal Paper 170gsm
circle dies
Core'dinations Card - February Gold
patterned paper from stash
X-Press It card
white flat backed pearls
Copic pens

The card base is made up using the Card Making Magic set and the circle die. The image is printed on X-Press It card, coloured with Copics and fussy cut. The flowers and leaves are cut from Ice Crystal paper and coloured with Copics on both sides. The pearls are coloured with Copics then used to make up the flowers. Leesa is only glued at the branch so that she hangs free on her swing. It gives a little movement in the card. I am not sure why but the photo makes her look lopsided on the actual card she is sitting straight!

The colour yellow is such a bright cheerful colour and this time of the year seems to shine with yellow crocus and daffodils not to mention all the fluffy chicks on Easter cards. It's a Spring colour, one of rebirth after the dull, dreery winter. It is a happy colour!

I hope that you will join us on the Path of Positivity this month. We have two excellent sponsors, Imagine That Digistamp and Limited Runs both offering generous prizes.

Our challenge is Anything Goes with the optional theme of Shades of Yellow. If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize for Most Inspirational. We'd also love to find out how this month's colour makes you feel, if you'd like to share that with us. What kinds of feelings does the colour YELLOW evoke in you? Visiting Ike's World

The challenge at Ike's World is almost over but I have time to get my entry in. I used the free image provided for this one, although you do not have to use it to enter.

DSC_0607(watermarked)

Materials used:Ike's Art - Raccoon Love (from challenge blog
X-Press It card
Copic pens
Little B - Handwritten Script dies
X-Cut - Hearts die set
A5 card blank
glossy card
Various inks

The heart background is cut from glossy card which has had various inks in greens and blues smeared accross it to make grass and sky. The words are die cut from the left over scraps.

Colouring the raccoon was a challenge as I was not sure about the colours to use. I had a look at some photos on line and it seems that mostly they are a brown grey colour with a more reddish brown stripe in the tail. Having coloured mine in I think maybe I should have put a bit of the tail colour in the body as well.

Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

The lily is made using the calyx cut from the Multiflower Rose die and coloured with Copics.

I thought I had everything organised this month but yet again I am scrambling about trying to get all the challenges finished. Having a couple of days less in the month has upset the system.

Please ignore my entry if that is too far an inspirational leap.

Musical Greetings

My youngest brother has taken up the clarinet and for being mostly self taught he is really good. I never know what to put on his birthday cards because until now his only interest has been computers and there are only so many computer themed images and stamps around! So this time I willingly went with a musical theme.

I apologise for the shadows in the photo it was tricky trying to avoid them!

DSC_0562(watermarked)Materials used:clarinet clip art from internet
brown card and paper in various shades
gold mirri card
X-Press It card
musical swirl clear stamp from stash
detail gold embossing powder
music embossing folder
embossing ink pad
happy birthday die
Vintage Photo Distress Ink pad
Copic pens

The card base is made from an A4 piece of mid brown card.  The dark brown layer is made from a textured dark brown card. The embossed layer is coloured with Vintage Photo distress ink. The top layer is stamped and heat embossed with detail gold embossing powder then the edges are also embossed with the same powder. The greeting is die cut from gold mirri card.

The clarinet image is printed on X-Press It card and coloured with Copic pens.

I had a bit of fun 'playing' while making this card. It's been a while since I used a 'real' stamp and got the heat gun out. I think I need to do some more soon!

Thanks for popping in. Take care.
