A 'New to me' challenge

While 'wasting time' on Facebook a few days ago I discovered another progressive freebie digi challenge on the ArtbyMiran page. She has some great images on her Etsy store, well worth taking a look at.

Materials used:SAM_1698(watermarked)
ArtbyMiran digi stamp : Rora and butterfly (not sure if this is a new one just for the challenge as I cannot locate it in the shop)
Stamping card
circle punches
border die
butterfly die
Spellbinders labels die
butterfly punch
pink, purple, yellow card
Happy Birthday acrylic stamp
gold beading wire
2 small purple beads
Copic pens

Method:
I managed to colour in two images, one in pink and one in purple, so made up two cards. The pink image was cut out and matted onto pink card using the Spellbinders labels die. I used three sizes of round punch to punch out white card and coloured them to match th
e bubbles in the image. I also punched out and coloured the butterflies. I used a sheet of white card to make up an A5 card blank and stamped the birthday greeting at the bottom. I then arranged my topper and elements and stuck them down.

SAM_1695(watermarked)For the purple image I folded a sheet of pale purple card to make a long easel card base and cut the bottom with the border die. I made a mat from dark purple card and cut the bottom of that to match the card blank. I used a scrap of dark purple card to die cut the butterfly, glued it to yellow card then cut around the wings. I used the wire and beads to make the antennae. I arranged all my elements onto the card base and stuck them down. I made the card stopper using the greetings stamp on white card matted onto                                                                                       dark purple.

As this is a first time entry into a new challenge I went on the hunt and found some more to enter into! All the links are below if you want to join in the fun.

Thank you for stopping by. Take care.

Rudolph Day

I missed last month's Rudolph Day, not sure how but there it is. This month I am being a bit sneaky because the image for the Outlawz Freebie Progressive Challenge is a Christmas Ppinkydolls one so two challenges covered with one card!

Materials used:SAM_1730waatermarked)
PPinky Dolls Digi Stamp - the image came free for taking part in the previous months challenge and I cannot find it in the Ppinkydolls Etsy site. I have added the link to the site so you can go and have a look if you are interested.
white stamping card
Copic pens
gold mirri card
Sizzlits nesting circles dies
Christmas Wishes acrylic stamp - origin unknown
white card to make the card blank

Method:
I printed out the image and coloured it with the pens then used the dies to cut it out along with a gold card mat. From another piece of white card I cut the card blank and turned it into an easel card. I stamped the greeting onto a piece of the left over white card and matted it onto a snippet of the gold card. I mounted it on foam pads inside the card to act as the stopper. Finally I cut a second white scallop edged circle and mounted it onto the front of the card blank before attaching my matted image.

Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

Tulips, not from Amsterdam

The end of the month is in sight and it is the usual scramble to get all the challenges posted on time so expect a flurry of activity over the next few days. You have been warned!

The progressive freebie challenge at Imagine That came with two sets to use this time. I have gone with the tulips for my entry.

Materials used:SAM_1725(watermarked)
Imagine That Stamp digi set: Watering Can Tulips
acrylic happy birthday stamp
green and purple paper
stamping card
white card to make 15 x 15 cm card blank
stick on gems
Copic pens

Method:
I printed out the watering can onto the stamping card and coloured it with the Copic pens. I trimmed the image then matted and layered it onto purple and green paper before attaching to the card blank. I used a left over strip of purple paper to make a rosette. I stamped the birthday greeting onto card, punched it out with a circle punch and attached it to the middle of the rosette. Finally I attached two small gems to the rosette.

Thank you for dropping in. Take care.

From the Heart

From the Heart stamps run a fantastic monthly progressive challenge and this month's image is just right for many occasions, I decided to go with a birthday card. SAM_1699(watermarked)

Materials used: From the Heart Stamps - Apple Blossom Birds stamping card scalloped oval dies (x-cut) Happy Birthday acrylic stamp snippet of pink ribbon Copic pens enamel accents- black DL card blank made from Centura Pearl card

Method: I printed out two images and coloured them in with Copics. I cut one image using the die, edged it with a black pen and put a small drop of black enamel accent in each scallop. (Confession: the enamel was not in the original plan but in edging the card the pen slipped so I needed something to cover the 'accident'!) I cut the two main flowers from the second image, shaped and glued them onto the first image so that the leaves on the left side over hung the die. I attached the ribbon to the card front and a separate bow before adding the topper and stamping the greeting with Black Archival ink.

Thank you for visiting. Take care. Pippa

Remember Bill and Ben?

When I was young there was a TV programme called 'The Flowerpot Men' and they had a friend called Little Weed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ozp8uwUWtBY When I saw this little flower image from 2CuteInk it made me nostalgic!

SAM_1700(watermarked)

Materials used:
2CuteInk digi stamp - May Flower
Copic pens
stamping card
orange and yellow floral design papers
rectangle die
A5 card blank
greetings sticker

Method:
I printed out 2 copies of the image and coloured them with the Copic pens. Using the rectangle die set I cut one image and a slightly larger mat from the orange paper. I cut the large flower head and the pot from the second image and stuck them over the first image after shaping them a little, to create a 3d look. I covered the front of the card blank with the yellow floral paper then stuck my topper on and finishing off with the sticker greeting.

Thanks for popping in. Take care.

Path of Positivity

Deedee's Digis is sponsoring the Path of Positivity challenge for this month. It is a new one to me but when I read up on it decided to have a go. It is tricky explaining what the challenge is about so I suggest you go and have a look for yourself. I chose to use a Biblical quote for my card.

Materials used:SAM_1673(watermarked)
Deedee's Digi Stamps - Spring Blocks
white stamping card
yellow card
Copic pens

Method:
I printed out the image including the Bible verse, which I typed in, once and just the images a second time, then used the pens to colour them. I trimmed back to the required size and ran a dark grey pen around the edge to form a narrow border, before matting onto yellow card. I ran the dark grey pen around the edges of a white A5 card blank before attaching the topper. I cut the caterpillar and the body with the top wings out of the second set of images and attached them on top of the card.

The theme this month is Perseverance and I thought the caterpillar eventually becoming the butterfly fitted with the idea behind the verse. I deliberately kept the same colour scheme for the caterpillar and the butterfly.

Thank you for dropping in. Take care.

Fundraising for Clearwater Marine Animal Rescue

Just a quick post to let you know about the fun fundraising events over on the Kit and Clowder Facebook page. Kit and Clowder have been celebrating 6000 members this weekend and Alyce has organised a lot of fun competitions as well as raising money for the Clearwater Marine Animal Rescue Centre. If you have seen the film Dolphin's Tale you will know all about their amazing dolphin Winter. She was rescued having been snared by the holding rope of a crab cage and because of the damage done to her tail she had to have it amputated. She was fitted with a prosthetic tale and has inspired hundreds of people with her story of survival.

I know there is a lot of controversy surrounding keeping large marine animals such as dolphins and whales in captivity but Winter would not survive in the wild. Without her artificial tail she swims with a sideways movement rather than up and down which damages her back and could damage her spinal cord. There was an article a while back saying that Clearwater is planning to drop the shows by the dolphins, I hope they do. If you do decide to donate there is a space to leave a comment so any concerns you could voice in there.  Meanwhile they are doing fantastic work rescuing other marine animals, especially turtles, and eventually releasing them back into the wild.

If you want to find out more pop over to the Kit and Clowder Facebook Page and take a look. If you donate there are three exclusive digi images available and plenty of prizes in the competitions.

One of the digi images is of Winter and her companion Hope, another rescued dolphin who is unable to be returned to the wild. I have coloured it up using Polychromo pencils.  I am still learning how to use these and it was coloured in very quickly so I could post it today so don't expect a fantastic work of art! (But you will find fantastic examples on the Facebook page!)

Stuck outside my comfort zone

For a few days now I have been trying to finish the first ever 'Create and Learn Markers Monthly Class' from Kit and Clowder.  The image is from Polkadoodles and to be honest not one I would normally go for. There were a lot of new techniques to try in this class and although I am not absolutely happy with the finished result I am glad I kept going and really enjoyed the learning journey. A lot more practice is needed before I can consider it good enough to turn into a card.

SAM_1669(watermarked)

I still need to practice blending out the sky and the clouds. The hair (girl and unicorn) needs more work and I still cannot get noses right. I am, however, very happy with her tights!

Thanks for stopping by. Take care.

Look what I found in the snippets drawer!

I set myself a challenge this weekend, to make a card using nothing but snippets. As some of my snippets are quite big, the discarded beginnings of a project that faltered, I actually almost managed it, (the two number stickers were not actually in the snippets drawer).

Material used:SAM_1666(watermarked)
Acrylic stamp - Footballers (I think it may be from Dimension Stamps)
Acrylic stamp - Happy Birthday
small numbers stamps
Thing-a-ma-jig
x-cut die - Football
Anita's number peel-offs
black Spectrum Noir pen
blue Copic pens
Memento ink pad - Tuxedo black
various snippets in white, blue and black

Method:
I stamped the footballers onto a snippet of white blending card, carefully removing the original number on the back of the shirt of the nearest player, and stamped the 21 in it's place. I coloured the kit of that player with the Copic pens and left the rest black and white.

I trimmed down my image and then matted and layered it onto black and blue snippets. I used the die to cut three footballs in black card and mounted blue card behind them. The card blank is what was left from cutting down an A4 card blank on a previous project. I glued my topper and the footballs in place and stamped the greeting at the bottom. I used the black pen to colour silver number peel-offs black and stuck them to the top football.

My daughter's stepson is 21 in a few days time and he is a keen Chelsea supporter which is why I changed the number on the shirt and coloured it blue. I decided to leave the rest of the image black as a contrast and to make the number more obvious!

I did have a 'helper' at one point! (Thankfully after I had taken out all the snippets I thought I might need).

Thank you for visiting. Take care.

National Scrapbook Day Challenge

Firstly apologies that this is late. I had it all typed up and ready to go and then Wordpress lost it when I posted it! This is the second attempt!

Deedee is celebrating National Scrapbook Day by running an additional challenge you can join in with. Several of the DT Members have made projects especially for the occasion and the idea is that you CASE one of them and produce your own project. You can find all the details on Deedee's blog.

I decided to make a scrapbook page, I used to do a fair amount of scrapbooking but have not done anything for quite some time now. I did enjoy meeting the challenge. I kept my page very CAS which is my preferred style.

Materials used:SAM_1571 (watermarked)
Deedee's digi set - Coffee Cup Greetings
stamping card
printer paper
photo paper
12 x 12 pale yellow cardstock
corner rounder punch
Copic and Spectrum Noir pens

Method:
I printed out the background paper that comes with the set and the two coffee cup images along with the journalling and the photo. I coloured in the coffee cups with the pens and then fussy cut them. I trimmed the photo and journalling to the size I wanted, rounded the corners with a punch and inked the edges. I cut two strips from the sheet of background paper and inked the edges also. I then arranged my elements on the page and when happy with them stuck them down. The front coffee mug is raised on 3d foam pads to add some dimension.SAM_1572 (watermarked)

My daughter found her Tassimo machine at a bargain price last year and I confess that I am just a little envious. It does make wonderful different flavours of drinks, from coffee to chocolate. Yummy!

I hope you will have a go at the challenge, I am looking forward to seeing the different takes on the DT samples. And should you need a little incentive, there are prizes to be won!

Thank you for visiting. Take care.
