From the Heart Stamps have a lovely little snowman as the image for their progressive challenge. This is my take on him.
Materials used:
From the Heart Stamps - Little Snowman
Bearly Mine - Winter Swirls 17 (unfortunately no longer in business because of the new EU Vat laws)
Snowflake Die (Spellbinders)
Copic and Spectrum Noir Pens
Stamping card
Printing card and paper
Cosmic Shimmer Diamond Sprinkles
Wink of Stella Shimmer Pen - Clear
Method:
I printed out a panel of the Winter Swirls on the right hand side of piece of card before folding it into an A5 card blank with the printing inside. I cut the front panel down to 11 cms so that when the card is closed part of the printed inside shows. I then printed out two A4 sheets of the same Winter Swirls paper, one I used as an insert and the other as the front panel.
I printed out the Little Snowman onto stamping card and coloured in with the pens before cutting out the snowman and a small part of the snow under him. I put some wink of stella onto the pom-pom and trim of his hat. Taking the panel of patterned paper for the front I cut a slit along the snow drift long enough to slip the bottom of the snowman into. I inked the edges of the panel with black ink and then stuck it to the card front. The snowman is held in place by the part behind the paper.
Finally I die cut a snowflake from a snippet of paper and covered it with diamond sparkles before attaching it to the card front so that it overlaps the card opening.
When I finished the card I discovered that the front panel matches up to the back quite well, purely by chance. I was not so successful in matching the insert but it is not visible when the card is closed!
Thank you for popping in. Take care.
Pippa

sounds complicated! a very cute snowman card xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks for explaining just how you did this. Sounds like a nice technique to try, and it surely did turn out well with the computer generation of designs, the addition of that fab colored snowy cut out and popped up behind his little snowhill. Liked the way you popped that sparkly snowflake on the edge of the card too. Great design detail. Thanks for playing in 2015's #1 Rudolph Day, and hope you can play each month. TFS & Hugs too.
ReplyDeleteAwww . . . that is one VERY cute snowman! Love the background too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Rudolph Day!
Hugs, Sarn xxx

Oh how cute Pippa - and very clever with the folding too! Good luck in Exeter on Saturday, I'll be in Southampton for the day - weather permitting of course.

ReplyDeleteThanks for joining our FREE Stamp of the Month Challenge @ From the Heart Stamps !!
Thank you Lesley. It's actually less complicated to make than to describe how to make it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comment Mary. I need to contact you about another matter, is there anyway of sending a private message?
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarn. I was a little out of my comfort zone as my Christmas makes tend to be traditional religious ones so I do not often get to build a snowman! ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you Sally
ReplyDeleteThanks Di. We do not get very big craft shows down this end of the country but this one is an annual event. If I am really lucky there is also one in September!
ReplyDeleteThank you Imke. I am not a great snowman card maker, I prefer the real thing, but this year I think this may be the nearest I get! The image was so cute too, I really enjoyed making him.
ReplyDeleteLovely card Pippa. That is such an adorable little snowman. I like the way you enserted him onto a hill!
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking part in my first Rudolph Days challenge of 2015.

ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely card! I love your detailed explanation, as well. It's so very nice when things line up and you just weren't sure they would.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lynn
ReplyDeleteThank you Darnell, I hope we 'bump' into each other more often this year, if I can get it together!
ReplyDeleteThanks Golda, it was pure fluke and I have the feeling if I had deliberately tried to match it up I would have failed!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is gorgeous. Love the way you printed out the image and folded it, great look. Thanks for playing along with us at FTHS for our Stamp of the Month Challenge.
