Girl Power

Back on the Path of Positivity again and what a good theme to come in to! My beautiful eldest daughter has certainly been showing off her girl power having given us our first Grandchild in April. It's been a long and continuing road to her recovery from a botched delivery but she has taken it all in her stride. Hopefully by this time next year all the further repair surgery will have been completed and successful, Covid 19 will be no longer a threat and we can enjoy being a relaxed family again.

While thinking about how to approach my sample for this the news of the death of Helen Reddy came through and I thought of her iconic song 'I am woman' so I have used that to make another page for my Inspirations Book.

However my favourite Helen Reddy song 'Candle on the Water' comes from the film 'Pete's Dragon'. If you do not know it here is a link to a video clip from the film:

Stampers Delights Anime New Release

Continuing the harvest/Thanksgiving/Autumn theme the Anime NR image from Stampers Delights is from the pumpkin patch!

I wonder how many of you carve your pumpkins to make lanterns. There are some amazing ones out there. I am not a fan of halloween but I do like the more artistic carvings.

How about this one for example:

I think this little lady looks as if she will come out with a fantastic carving!

Stampers Delights Chibi New Release

This month the theme for the new releases from Stampers Delights is Harvest but could also be used for Thanksgiving. There is a bonus in that the cart full of veg and the girl are two separate images. You can, of course, combine them if you wish. I have made a card that would do for Harvest or Thanksgiving. Since I plan to send it to my friend in the USA I have added a Thanksgiving greeting. I also had a go at some 3D crafting using the cart and made a cart container for small items. I've used grapes for the photo but chocolates would work just as well!

Materials used:
Stampers Delights: Harvest Time
Imagine That  Digistamp: Subtle Harvest (not available)
printer paper
X-Press It card
white card
kraft card

Copic pens:

Making the cart was definitely a Heath Robinson job! I just made it up as I went along. It worked - sort off, but I would not risk putting anything too heavy in it without adding further support!

Do take a look at the Stampers Delights Facebook Page and Inspiration Blog for more ideas and makes from the rest of the DT. Links below for you.

And for those of you who have not heard of Heath Robinson he drew crazy contraptions. This is one of the less mad ones!

October's Stampers Delights Progressive Challenge

So here we go, my first card and colouring for months. Still feeling the lack of creative drive but hoping to kick start the brain back into action. My first offering uses the image for the progressive challenge on the Stamper's Delights Facebook page. The image on offer is of a witch on a broomstick but as I am not a fan of witches I got Janice's permission to slightly alter the image. Please bear in mind that I am not an artist which is why I use other people's images!

Just a quick catch up

So how have you coped with all the madness in the world? It's been a while since I posted so here is a brief catch up.

After the arrival of our first grandson Teddy in the height of lockdown when we could not see him life took an unexpected and unpleasant turn. To cut a very long story short the hospital botched his delivery, an internal inquiry reads like a forensics report from a murder and legal proceedings are underway to sue for medical negligence. It is unlikely that the hospital will contest and the solicitor is hoping they will make a decent out of court settlement. Now I am not usually a fan or suing the NHS but in this instance, and not just because it's closer to home, I feel my daughter is justified. The whole mess robbed her of weeks of contact with her newborn, put added stress to an already stressful time with Covid, left her facing further surgery and weeks of recovery between them with the possibility of leaving her with a life altering condition. All of which could have been avoided had basic checks been carried out when she went into early labour.

On the plus side both mum and Teddy survived (it was close) and Becky is amazing taking it all in her stride while Teddy is a delight.

So you can understand why I have been out of action. My mojo for designing anything went out of the window so I stepped back from Stampers Delights and The Path of Positivity for a while.

Don't think for a moment that I was not crafting, I've been knitting, crocheting and rediscovered my love for cross stitch which has been dormant for many years. All of these involve just following someone else's pattern and that suited my state of mind just fine.

I am back now but possibly only for a short time to serve out my time as it were on the Design Teams. When Becky does go for the next surgery she will be on complete bed rest for some time afterwards so we will be needed to help with Teddy while her husband is at work.

But for now I am persevering and hoping that there is enough creative juice in the system to get me through the next few months.

To finish with a happy photo!

Take care and stay safe.
