Going out in style?

We are certainly living in the most difficult of times this century with the world in chaos because of one invisible but deadly germ. Life in lockdown seems unreal almost dream like. I thought I would be able to get a lot of crafting done and be on top of my DT commitments but it is not working out that way. In fact I have no mojo for making cards, colouring, sharing. It's like all the creative energy has been seeping away.

Now not all of this is due to Covid-19, can't have it getting all the glory! A lot is going on for us as a family too and being separated is not at all easy. I know I am not the only one but when things are happening to you it certainly seems like it at the time. Does that make me a selfish person, I don't think so it just makes me human.

Anyway I did not set out to depress everyone, so moving swiftly on. Our theme at Path of Positivity this month is Style, something I know nothing about and certainly can't be accused of having. I envy people who can go out shopping and come back with clothes that make them look fabulous even if they have only been to the charity shop. My daughters are both like that, there wardrobes make them even if they do not have a lot of choice in them.
During Covid when no one is going out there have been great stories of people dressing up in ballgowns and wedding dresses just to put out the bins. A couple who live just up the road from us have been going on their daily walk around the area dressed as Micky and Minnie Mouse, they even post up their route on the town FB page beforehand so the children can look out for them. There is a postman in the county who has been wearing a different costume everyday on his rounds. Even in the midst of disaster we are a resilient people and create ways to keep our own spirits up and those of others. Part of me hopes that it does not all go once we are let out.

For the midway post I have made another page for my 'Inspirational Quotes' book.

Materials used:
Lunagirl - Mignon #2 Digital Collage Sheet
silver mirri card
music themed clear stamps
Brushos in red, yellow and black
black archival ink pad
white printer card

I decided to use the gypsy with a tambourine image for this one and made a themed background with a set of clear music stamps from my stash. The quote I found on the internet and it seemed a great one to use. I think I might take it as a definition of my own style!

I have rediscovered my Brushos after some time of not using them. I love how just spraying a fine mist onto the powdered pigment produces all sorts of different colours. The black has blues in it and when it merges with the red you get a purple colour. Where the red and yellow meet oranges start to form. With it being a powder the sprinkling mixes up the scattered gains so different colours appear within other colours so looking at it now I can see blue spots in the yellow and red and red spots in the yellow. You never know how the powder will react with the water it is quite magical to watch it happen.

So why not join in the fun. Remember all entries need to be uplifting in some way to qualify for prizes and the theme is optional. It would be great to see what you come up with.

Our sponsors this month are Lunagirl Images who are offering a $10 gift voucher for the random draw winner and Scribbles Designs offering one image of $5 or less for the team pick as the most inspiring qualifying entry. It's All In The Style

Time for a new challenge at Path of Positivity and this month the optional theme is Style. Now I admit this is a hard one for me because I am not a style sort of person. I wear what I wear because it's comfortable. Looking at my wardrobe you would think I am very sombre with a lot of black and brown but my philosophy is that black and brown go with anything so stick to the most usable colours.

Having said that I have added some colour with crochet and knitting so I have a crocheted jumper in shades of purple and pink and a very bright orange knitted cable tunic. On the needles is another purple creation so colour is starting to creep into the wardrobe!

My fantasy style, in my dreams, I guess would be gypsy which is why I have chosen one of the Mignon sets from our sponsor this month. I have kept my card very simple to compliment the image. The CAS style does tend to be my default mode for cards so I guess it also counts towards the theme remit.

Materials used:
clear sentiment stamp
little flowers embossing folder
3.5" x 5" card blank
printer photo card
black archival ink pad
gold mirri card

So what is your style? Are you a casual person, do you like dressing up? Do you have a particular crafting style? I hope you will share with us at Path of Positivity. The theme is optional but it would be great to see some different views on style so why not have a go and create a project that reflects your unique style or that connects to style in general.

Our sponsors this month are Lunagirl Images who are offering a $10 gift voucher for the random draw winner and Scribbles Designs offering one image of $5 or less for the team pick as the most inspiring qualifying entry.

Thank you for dropping in. Take care.

Stampers Delights Anime New Release

Today is release day for the new Anime images and we are continuing the crafty theme. If you like using physical stamps keep a look out for some new clear stamps coming into the store.

I have used the artist image to make a rainbow to put up in our window. So many people are putting up rainbows as a sign of hope during the lockdown caused by Covid - 19. Local children out on their one permitted walk a day are having fun spotting them. I have flipped the image and placed her so that she looks as if she has just painted the rainbow. The wording uses the initial letter of the colours of the rainbow.

Materials used:
A4 That Craft Place blending card
Copic pens:
skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04     R20, R22

I hope that people who come down our little close will enjoy my rainbow, but even if no one comes the neighbours can see it!

Are you socially distancing where you are? I'd love to know how you are all doing. Crafting does give us an advantage in that there is always something to do. Have you been crafting? Maybe you have picked up an old craft that you have not done in a while. I have just found my way back into cross stitching and it is fair to say I am addicted. There is something very therapeutic in hand sewing. Or perhaps you are trying your hand a a new craft. I have some embroidery kits to have a go at, something I have never been particularly happy with my sewing abilities so thought I would give it another go. Do please leave a comment with how you have been keeping busy/sane in these strange times we are living through.

Meanwhile don't forget to take a look at the Stampers Delights store for wonderful images and the Facebook page and blogs for inspiration. Here are some useful links for you:

Thanks for visiting, from a socially safe distance! Take care and stay safe.

Stampers Delights Chibi New Release

It's the first weekend of April and time for the new releases from Stampers Delights. Today it is the Chibi images in the spotlight. Janice has created some lovely crafting themed images for you all. Also look out for the new limited physical stamps coming into the store. They will be great for those of you who like a more traditional approach to stamping.

I have used the Chibi image to make the front cover of a new Art Journal.

Materials used:
Stampers Delights - Love My Markers
A Bit More Time To Craft (Lozzi) - Fun Digi Papers Set
brushos in various colours
Liquid Pearls - Garnet
watercolour paper
printer card
That Craft Place blending card
Copic pens:
skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04,      R20,
hair - R14, R27, R46, R59
dress - YG01, YG06, G05     Y00, Y11, Y15, YR23
pen - C0, C1, C3, C5     V15, V17
shoes - C1, C3, C5, C7

I used a paper from the Fun set printed onto A4 card and stuck to the front of a sketch book.  The watercolour paper was used with the brushos to make a mat for the main image.

The heart shape is covered in garnet liquid pearls and the lettering has been coloured with various Copic pens.

Do head over to the Stampers Delights store to see other images in the series as they are released. You can find the clear stamps here.

April's Progressive Challenge at Stampers Delights

A new month begins and had anyone said at the beginning of the year that we would be confined to our homes and that a virus would sweep the world causing misery to millions I doubt if we would have believed it. But here we are. I hope that wherever you are you are keeping sane and safe.
Of course us crafters have a head start when it comes to filling time, all those projects to do and new skills to try. So if you fancy a great image to colour head over to the Stampers Delights Facebook Page and request the image for this month's challenge.

Materials used:
Presscut 3 Fold Card Die set
white card
X-Press It card
Copic pens:
skin - E000, E00, E21, E11
hair - Y21, Y26, YR24, E25
scrubs - B21, B23, B24     B00, B12
glasses - R29, R39, R59     100
shoes - C0, C1, C3
stethoscope - C7, C5, C3, C1     R29, R39, R59, R89
plasters - R39     R000, R00, E00
lettering - R29, R39, R59, R89

I used the character and the sentiments from the Medical Heroes #2 set and the pills from the We're In This Together set which I turned into plasters.

The card base is made using the die set. The trickiest part was remembering to cut the panels in the right orientation to get the wording correct. It helped to have the card base as a memory guide.

Janice has produced a couple more sets in this series which are on sale at the moment. You can get them from the Stampers Delight Store here
