Winning Birthday

After a weekend of Wimbledon finals, the Cricket World Cup final and a Grand Prix it seemed appropriate to actually get around to blogging this little chap!

Materials used:
Scrapper's Delights - Chibi Winner Girl and Boy
DDDoodles - A Taste of Summer Kit (available from Scribbles Designs)
various rectangle dies
acrylic greeting stamp
black archival inkpad
printer card
X-Press It card
Copic pens:
skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04  R20
eyes - B21, B23, B26
hair - E43, E44, E47, E49
clothes - B21, B23, B26, B18   R29, R39, R59, R89   C0, C1, C3, C5, C7
cup base - C3, C5, C7, C9, 100

I use the Tasste of Summer set for the green matt and the balls in the background. The green matt is from the glitter papers and the ball is from the elements. or the balls I cropped and copied the image a few times and arranged them randomly on the paper then recoloured some before printing out. The pink and yellow balls overlapping the image have been cut from the scrap left and glued on.

The printed background paper is cut with a stitched edged die and the stitch effect highlighted with a black pen. The coloured image and matt are cut with rectangle dies.

Thanks for popping in. Take care.

Exploring Embroidery

This is my year for two goals, one is to finish some of the projects that have been lying around half finished in my cupboard. Some of them have been there for years! The other goal is to try out some new things. I had a go at embroidery in school and did not get on with it at all. However I came across MakeBox+Co a new monthly postal craft box company which was just starting out. It is run by a young married couple. If I can I like to support new ventures especially in the craft world. For the first box they were offering a 10% discount so I thought I would give it a go.

The launch box was very successful for them and since then they have had a baby and brought out a couple of other boxes. You have the choice of a monthly or bi monthly subscription or just a one off purchase.

Bees was the theme and the box came with a postcard, material, threads, needle, two embroidery hoops and basic instructions. These are the projects you could make.

I have to say that as a way to get over the awful experience of embroidery from school this worked a treat. Each project added more so you could try different techniques and build up skills. I was really pleased with how mine turned out.

I think I will be buying more boxes in the future so look out for them!

If you are interested you can find MakeBox+Co. here

Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

June Progressive Freebie at Scrapper's Delights

I am thrilled to say that I have been asked to join the DT for Scrapper's Delights so this is my first DT post for them. Those of you who have been with me for some time will already know that I love the progressive challenge on the Scrapper's Delights Facebook page so this is not such a hard assignment for me to do. This month we get to work with a cute girl enjoying her pizza.

Materials used:
Scrapper's Delights - Chibi I Love Pizza
Scrapper's Delights - Recipe Card (not in new store)
X-Press It card
Copic pens:
skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, R20
eyes - B12, B24, B28
hair - E53, E43, E57,
shoes - C3, C5, C7, C9
tee shirt and ribbbon - R81, R83, R85, R56
jeans - B91, B93, B95, B99
pizza box - E31, E33, E35
star and cup - Y15, Y38, B4, B16, B6
pizza base - E51, E53, E33
pizza topping - Y13, Y15, Y19  R35, R46, R59
frame - C0, C1, C3  B000
finished card edge - BG75

I teamed up the image with an older digi stamp from Scrapper's Delights from a Recipe Card set to make a recipe card for Pizza. By resizing the image I got her to fit in the frame on the front of the card and added the text Pizza before printing. The back and front print out together so it was just a case of cutting them out and sticking them together once all the colouring was completed, then finally running a dark blue/green pen around the edge to hide any white left on the edges.

Reverse side of recipe card.

I had this bright idea that probably won't come to fruition for some time, of making a recipe card box as a present for a keen cook so they can store their favourites in it. This is the only card I have done so far and may remain that way.

Oh and in case you were wondering I realise that in the original image she is probably tucking into a pepperoni pizza I fancied a cheese with tomato one!

You can find the Progressive Challenge over at the  Scrapper's Delights Facebook page so why not  pop over and give it a go yourself.

Thanks for dropping in.
