The image for the progressive challenge at Limited Runs is a cute little owl. I have a friend who is owl mad so I had her in mind when I made this card.
Materials used:
Limited Runs - Mini Owl 1 (free if you took part in the previous month's challenge or you are a new participant)
free log image from internet
Docrafts Papermania Owl Folk designer papers
A5 white card blank
X-Press It card
white printer card
Copic pens
Print out the owl x3 at the required size and the log x1. Colour images with Copic pens. Fussy cut one complete owl, the eyes and beak from image 2 and just the beak from image 3. Use gel glue to layer up the different parts of the owl. Fussy cut the log. Print out the greeting on white card, trim to size and edge with a black pen.
Use two of the designer papers to cover the front of the card, each a little smaller than the one beneath. Use gel glue to stick on the log and owl giving it some shaping beforehand.
Finally add the sentiment.
It will be a little quiet here for the next couple of weeks, the craftroom is closing for cleaning and I am trying to sort out some house jobs that have been waiting until the end of term and can wait no longer!
Thank you for dropping in. Take care.

Got to the Playground at Last!
A while back when Imagine That Digistamp held their monthly progressive challenge I managed to play along every month. The incentive was being able to receive the image for the following month free. Since they moved to a monthly link up, even though in theory it should be easier because you can use any of their images, I have always missed it. Not this month, a bit last minute but I got there!
Materials used:Imagine That Digistamp - Rocky's Stonemobile
free forest image from the internet
X-Press It card
printer card
A5 white card blank
Copic pens
Print the image on X-Press It card at the required size and colour with Copics. Print the background image and the sentiment on white printer card.
Cut the backing image to size and attach to card front. Fussy Rocky and use gel glue to stick into the scene on the card. Trim the sentiment to size and edge with a brown pen. attach sentiment to top of card.
I think this one is going away until my brother's birthday in November. He is very much into cars and is in the process of building one at the moment. His long suffering wife has the patience of angels!
Thanks for stopping by. Take care.

Birthday Surprise!
This month the free image for the Scrapper's Delights progressive challenge on their Facebook page was of palm trees. I decided to combine it with anther of their images to make up a scene.
Materials used:
Scrapper's Delights : Jungle Palms
Scrapper's Delights: Funky Ashley
X-Press It card
dark creen card
mid green card
Sheena's A4 Jungle Leaves embossing folder
white, pearlised yellow, pearlised blue and pearlised lilac card snippets
balloon punch
acrylic greeting stamp
black archival ink pad
Arrange the two images on the page as you want them and print out on X-Press It card. I tried to have Ashley looking as if she is hiding behind the tree ready to surprise someone with the balloons.
Colour the images with Copic pens. When I coloured in Ashley I turned her spikey hair into leaves like a leafy head-dress.
Trim the coloured image to size and mat onto dark green card.
Use the A4 embossing folder to emboss the mid green card and cut a piece to layer onto the front of an A5 white card blank leaving a narrow border around the edges.
Stamp out the greeting with black ink onto a scrap of white card and mat onto dark green card matching the topper. Attach both matted elements to the front of the card.
Confession time! The balloons in the corner are actually covering an ink splodge that accidentally got onto the finished topper! I found some scrap pieces of card that just matched the colours I had used on the image. Phew, crisis averted.
Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

Heading for the beach
This month I outdid myself and managed to get an extra project done for Scribbles Designs. I love the combination of these two images and have used them before. In this version I decided to do a giant beach ball, I just hope it does not get blown away by the sea breeze!
Materials used:
Scribbles Designs - #F 38 Sand Bucket (Free) and #F 127 Beach Ball
X-Press It card
copper mat finish glimmer card
gold mirri card
gold peel-off greeting sticker
15cm square white card blank
Arrange the two images on the page and print on X-Press it card, trim to size and colour with Copic pens. Mat onto gold mirri card.
Attach a piece of the copper card to the front of the card blank leaving a narrow white border around the edges. Attach the matted image to the card . Finally place on the greeting sticker.
I have made my beach ball large like one of the giant inflatable ones.
The current challenge at Scribbles Designs is 'Use Your Noodle To Doodle'. It is open until the 14th August so there is still plenty of time to enter, there is even a free image available for you to use if you want to. Why not hop on over to the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog for all the details of how to enter and the prizes available. It would be great to see you there.
Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

Messing about on the river
This month's image for the Progressive Challenge on the Art by Barb Facebook page makes a great summer birthday card for a young lad. What can be more fun than taking a good friend for a canoe trip on a lovely sunny day. I wish I could join them!

Bugaboo Christmas In July Day 7 - Freebie Recipe Challenge
Today is the final day of the Christmas in July event at Catch the Bug. The final theme is Freebie Recipe Challenge. Create a project using the freebie following recipe
Black, White or Kraft with a POP of colour and sparkle.
Materials used:
Bugaboo Digi Stamps - Friday Freebie
Neenah Desert Storm Kraft card
white card
red card
diamond sparkles
acrylic greeting stamp
archival black ink pad
A4 snowflake embossing folder
Copic pens
white gel pen
Print the image on the kraft card, colour with Copics and a white gel pen and trim to size. Add diamond sparkles glitter to the ground at the bottom of the image. Stamp the greeting on a snippet from trimming the image.
Emboss the A4 white card with the snowflakes folder and use it to make an A5 card blank. Mat the image and the greeting with red card and attach to the front of the card blank.
I did find colouring on the Neenah card was trickier than using X-Press It card but needed the kraft card for the challenge. Perhaps we can persuade the producers of X-Press It card to develop a kraft version as well!
I hope you have enjoyed the week of challenges at Catch the Bug, there were certainly a variety of them! Congratulations if you managed to enter any of them and good luck in the prize drawers. If any of you managed to enter every day I think you need a gold star. I have done it both as a competitor and as a design team member and the later is much easier (we have the challenges in advance to prepare early!)
Thanks for popping in. Take care.

Bugaboo Christmas In July Day 6 - Oldie But Goodie Colour Inspiration
Here we are with the penultimate challenge for this year's Christmas in July event at Bugaboo. Today's challenge is a colour inspiration. I confess I did opt to go for the obvious with my project but I am sure that some of you will be able to come up with something a little more unusual. I can't wait to see the array of entries for this one!
Materials used: Bugaboo Digi Stamps - Christmas Ornamentsacrylic greeting stamp
black archival ink pad
X-Press It card
silver mirri card
dark pink and mid green card
Copic pens
silver gel pen
A5 white card blank
Print out the Christmas Ornaments to the required size on X-Press It card and colour with Copics and silver gell pen.
Trim to size and mat and layer on silver, pink and green card. Attach to the card base.
Stamp the greeting at the bottom of the card with black archival ink.
Well we are on the home straight now after such a busy week! Remember all the challenges are open until the end of the week. Details of how to enter and the prizes on offer can be found at the Catch the Bug Blog.

Bugaboo Christmas In July Day 5 - Photo Inspiration and Make It Funny
It's the fifth day of the Bugaboo Christmas in July week of challenges and today is a photo inspiration for a funny card.
I have chosen to feature Santa and a rather tangled up Rudolph, charging him with putting up the decorations might have been a mistake!
Materials used: Bugaboo Digi Stamps - Christmas Trio Blocks Digi Stamp
acrylic greeting stamp
acrylic line border stamp
X-Press It card
silver mirri card
blue card
silver embossing powder
Versamark ink pad
DL white card blank
white fun flock
Copic pens
Snowy acetate sheet
Print two of the Christmas blocks on X-Press It card twice and colour with Copics. Fussy cut one of each block around the outside edge and fussy cut just the Santa and Rudolph from the other images. Add fun flock to Santa's hat.
Emboss the edge with the border stamp and greeting using silver embossing powder.
Arrange and adhere the two images on a strip of blue card matted on silver mirri. Use foam pads to attach the two character images over the top shaping them slightly first.
Attach the panel to the front of the card.
Wrap the card with a piece of snowy acetate.
I hope you have been able to join in the fun with our Christmas in July event at Catch the Bug. There is still time to catch up with the challenges so far and still more to come over the next couple of days. All the details can be found at the Catch the Bug Blog page, and there are lots of prizes on offer too.

Bugaboo Christmas In July Day 4 - New Release Bingo
Time is rattling on and it is day four already. This time there is a bingo card for you to have a go at using today's new release Bear Stocking . For those of you not familiar with bingo challenges the idea is to take three items from any row, vertically, horizontally or diagonally. (I chose the left hand side column). Of course there is nothing to stop you going really crazy and going for a full house! Eyes down and have fun!
Materials used:Bugaboo Digi Stamps - New Release Bear Stocking
acrylic greeting stamp
X-Press It card
A4 snowflake embossing folder
A4 white card
Christmas designer paper
self-adhesive gems
white fun flock
white glitter
small gold bell
round corner punch
round corner rectangle dies
Print the image out three times (I cropped the second and third images to the parts I needed to safe card), colour with copics and fussy cut the two layers. Use the die to cut the complete image and a slightly larger die to cut a mat from the designer paper. Attach the topper to the mat.
On the top parts of the layers add fun flock to the stocking and white glitter to the bear's hat. Use glue gel to put the layers together.
Emboss an A4 sheet of white card with the snowflakes embossing folder and use it to make the card base.
Attach the matted image to the card and stamp the greeting using black archival ink.
Attach the bell to the hat and the gems at the heel of the stocking.
I hope that you have already had a go at the challenges so far at Catch the Bug. If not maybe this one appeals to you. All the details of how and where to enter, information on the wonderful selection of prizes on offer and how to get the new release image can be found on the Catch the Bug Blog.

Bugaboo Christmas In July Day 3 - Anything But A Card
Day three already at Catch the Bug's Christmas in July challenges and time to abandon cards for something else. I have made an A3 piece of wrapping paper to share with you.
Materials used:
Bugaboo Digi Stamps - Christmas Words - Hohoho
Polychromo pencils
A3 printer paper
Docrafts Digital Designer software (free download available)
Use the paper maker option of the software to make the design at A3 size and print off.
Colour images with Polychromo pencils.
It's a lot quicker to describe how to do it than it was to colour in those images. I could have added more but I think I had enough to colour as it was!
Come and join in the fun at the Catch the Bug Blog with a different challenge every day there is bound be be at least one you could enter or why not be daring and have a go at all of them. There are some very special prizes on offer. You can find details of the challenges and the prizes with instructions on how to enter at the Blog. Hope to see you there.

Time for the second of the fun Christmas in July challenges at Catch the Bug. Today is a sketch for you to try.

acrylic greeting stamp
X-Press It card
designer paper
silver mirri card
pearlised card
circle die
blue buttons
blue ribbon
glitter
white fun flock
Copic pens
Print image on X-Press It card, colour with Copics and trim to size. Use a glue pen to add a glittery border and fun flock to the children's hadt. Matt onto silver mirri card.
Make an A5 card base from pearlised card. Cut a piece of designer paper larger than the matted image and attach to the middle of the card base.
Add the matted image with the blue ribbon and attach the buttons.
Stamp the greeting with black ink and cut with a circle die. Run a black pen carefully around the edge and colour the stars with a gold pen. Attach to card with foam pads.
I cannot recall if I have said before but sketches are my least favourite challenges! So if I am brave enough to give it a go I think you could too. Use Your Noodle To Doodle!
I guess I had better explain the strange title of this post. It's time for a new challenge at Scribbles Designs and the theme is as above. With the fairly recent resurgence in doodling and zen tangling there are plenty of images around, either open to doodle in or already doodled. There are plenty of images at the Scribbles Designs store if you need some ideas.
For my project for the start of the challenge I have chosen an already doodled image to make a cover for my notebook, much more interesting and colourful than the plain black!
Materials used: Scribbles Designs - Throw Kindness
X-Press It card
Copic pens
The image is printed out at A5 size on X-Press It card and Coloured with Copics. It is then trimmed and attached to the front of a notebook.
It would be lovely to see you join in with our challenge to see what doodles and tangles people come up with. You can find all the details of how to enter and the prizes on offer at the Scribbles Designs Blog.
Thanks for stopping by. Take care.

Love to Craft Midway Reminder
It's like Clapham Junction today with the meeting of three challenges!
We are already half way through the current challenge at Love To Craft and as always the theme is Anything Goes. My project is the engagement card I made for a colleague at school for all the staff to sign. Debbie and her fiancé Paul are both keen cyclists so I could not resist this image from Polka Doodles.
Materials used:
Polka Doodles - Tandem Ride - Winnie (also available as a precoloured image)
X-Press It! card
red card
silver mirri card
black card
white printer card
Copic pens
metal heart accents
A5 card blank
Print the image on X-Press It! card at the required size and colour with Copics. Trim to size and mat and layer onto silver and black card.
Print the sentiment on white printer card leaving a gap for the prepared topper and the accents. (I could have done with making the middle space a little bigger really.)
Trim the printed white card slightly around the edges. Cover the front of the card blank with red card then attached the trimmed white card.
Attached the topper to the middle of the card and the metal hearts at the bottom.
I am happy to say that Debbie and Paul liked their card, big sigh of relief!
The Love To Craft challenge runs until the end of the month so there is still time for you to get an entry in, so come along and join the fun. We are an all-crafts, just for fun challenge blog and welcome any and all kinds of handmade creations - from cards, tags, ATCs and scrapbook layouts - to 3-D projects, mixed media canvases and altered projects - and even knitting, crocheting, quilting and jewelry-making! Whatever you're working on, we want to see it!
We allow back-linking of projects that are no more than six months old. Absolutely no digitally-created projects - we want to see tangible handmade creations.
Thanks for swinging by. Take care.

Our challenges are monthly - they go live at 6:00 AM EST on the first day of every month and run until 6:00 PM on the last day of the month - and are always Anything Goes!
Winners and Top Picks are chosen by our Design Team and announced on the 5th of the month following the close of each challenge. We do not solicit sponsorship so there are no prizes. We play for *FUN* and for 'Winner' and 'Top Pick' badges. There may occasionally be a goody bag of craft supplies thrown in by the blog owner or some blog candy scattered for a lucky winner!
You may enter up to five (different) projects in our challenges and you may combine our challenges with as many others as you wish.
Link just your project - not your entire blog - to our challenge via the Linky Tool at the end of the challenge post. List our challenge in your blog post and link back to us.

Out of this world!
The image for this month's progressive challenge on the Limited Runs Digital Stamps Facebook page is a fun grinning monster/alien. I decided to give him his own planet to enjoy!
Materials used:
Limited Runs Digital Stamps - Smiling Monster
X-Press It card
Copic pens
white gel pen
A5 card blank
The smiling monster is printed out on X-Press It card and coloured with Copics then fussy cut.
I printed out the greeting text on an A5 piece of X-Press It card then drew in the background and coloured with Copics. (I have to admit this was a leap out my comfort zone because I am not an artist). The white stars are added with a white gel pen.
Having coloured the sky I discovered that the printed greeting was not so easy to read so traced over it with the white gel pen, having already tried fading the sky behind it with the blender Copic pen.
Finally the background is trimmed and attached to the front of the card blank and the monster added using foam pads.
I hope he enjoys his planet and is not too lonely there! I see from his eyes that he has been staring at the rising planet for too long. (OK enough, it's getting late and I need my sleep!)
If you are really quick there is just about time to join in the challenge at the Limited Runs Facebook page.
Thanks for visiting. Take care.

Outdoor Fun With Bugaboo
A new challenge starts today at Catch the Bug and the theme is Outdoor Fun. Here in the UK we have been enjoying some lovely hot weather, not your typical British Summertime and the evening air has been fragrant with the smell of barbeques!
Materials used:
Bugaboo Digi Stamp - Guy BBQ
designer paper from stash
15cm square card blank
X-Press It card
acrylic sentiment stamp
black archival ink pad
Copic pens
The image is printed on X-Press It card, coloured with Copics trimmed to size and edged with a Copic pen.
The sentiment is stamped on an off cut of white card, trimmed and edged with the same colour used to edge the image.
The front of the card blank is covered with the designer paper and the two elements attached to it. The coloured image has been attached using foam pads to give some dimension.
I hope you will come and join in the fun at Catch the Bug. All details of how to enter and the prizes on offer are on the blog.
Don't forget next week sees the start of Bugaboo's annual Christmas in July set of fun challenges, a different challenge for each day and wonderful prizes on offer. Make a date to join in the fun!
Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

Sailing Away With Scribbles Designs
We are midway through the current challenge at Scribbles Designs with the theme Holiday Hoopla. I have again chosen to focus on the summer holidays.
Materials used:Scribbles Designs - Sailboat 1
Scribbles Designs - Sizzling Summer Paper Set
circle die set
circle cutting compass
acrylic greeting stamp
black archival ink pad
white card
printer card and paper
X-Press It card
Copic pens
I used a piece of A4 white card to create the base for my rocker card and covered it with a piece of blue DP printed from the Sizzling Summer set. I ran a blue copic pen around the edges to finish off.
I printed out the boat image on X-Press It card, coloured it with Copics and fussy cut it out.
For the image mat I die cut a circle from white card and covered half with the wave paper printed from the Sizzling Summer set and the top half with some more of the blue paper. I ran a length of blue satin ribbon across the middle to hide the join.
I attached the circle to the card base and added the boat image using gel glue to add a little dimension.
I cut two strips of the wave paper, glued them together and concertina folded the strip before sticking to the card front.
Finally I stamped the greeting using black ink.
This is my first rocker card, it took a bit of working out to get the sizes correct but I am pleased with the outcome for a first attempt. Hopefully I will get around to trying some more in the future.
There is still time for you to join in the fun at Scribbles Designs. All the information you need along with more inspiration from the Design Team can be found on the Scribbles Designs Blog.
Thanks for dropping in. Take care.
