Bugaboo Saturday Challenge

It's time for another challenge at Bugaboo and this week the theme is a recipe: 1 image, 2 buttons, 3 colours.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:Bugaboo Digi Stamps - Coffee Time, May Your Cup
X-Press It card

The image and sentiment are printed on X-Press It card and coloured with Copics, the three colours I chose are red, blue and brown. After trimming it is matted on blue card.

A strip of red card is attached across the front of the card blank and the image added. The buttons are glued on at the side.

If you look very closely you can spot my error, I originally stuck 3 buttons to the card so when I came to write this had to remove a button!

If my card has inspired you why not pop along to the Bugaboo blog, Catch the Bug, and have a go at the challenge yourself. You will find more inspiration and all the details on how to enter there.

Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

If Only It Would Rain!

Here in England we are experiencing a distinctly unseasonal April, no showers. The garden is dry and we used all the water in the water butt a couple of weeks ago. Normally at this time of year there would have been a lot more rain. It is not looking good for the early crops in the field, where there should be green sprouts there is bare earth. So the image for the Scrapper's Delight Facebook Challenge this month is somewhat apt.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:Scrapper's Delight - Rainy Days 1
X-Press It card
red, yellow and black card
A5 card blank
Copic pens

The image and sentiment are printed on X-Press It card and coloured with Copic pens. Having been trimmed to the required size they are matted onto black card.

The front of the card base is covered with a slightly smaller piece of yellow card, then a strip of red card added, offset from the  middle.

The image and sentiment are attached as shown.
Although it is lovely to have sunny days in April I think it is time for a change, a few April showers before May starts would be good and the tadpoles would love it too!

Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

It's All In The Mind!

It's new release day at Bugaboo Stamps and I got to play first! (Well all the DT actually). I especially liked the little car and motivational quote and decided it would make a great wall hanging for my craftroom.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:Bugaboo Stamps - Attitude Car
X-Press It card
black and red card
Copic pens
square red gems
silver eyelets
red ribbon
glossy accents

The image and sentiment are printed on X-Press It card as one piece and coloured with Copics. The windows are glazed with Glossy Accents. When dry it is trimmed, matted and layered on the black and red card.

Two eyelets are set at the top and a piece of ribbon threaded through to hang it from.

Finally the gems are added at each corner.

I think this will make a good inspirational piece to put in my craftroom, especially for the days when things are not going so well. So often a change in attitude to a situation, while not acutally altering the situation itself, can help in coping with it.

If you are inspired by my offering today why not head over to 'Catch the Bug' and see what other members of the DT have produced. There you will also find the links to the Bugaboo Stamps store and all the information about the currant challenges.

Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

Nature's Bounty

Time for some midway inspiration for the Path of Positivity challenge #48 with the optional theme of The beauty of nature.

While we are enjoying the bright spring colours in the bulbs, blossoms and leaves at the moment, nature has beauty to share all the year around. My card for today focuses more on the bounty of autumn.

I have a strange fascination for fungi which is the reason I was drawn to this image. There is such a variety of colours, shapes and sizes to be found and yet so often they are overlooked and regarded as somewhat sinister - perhaps because of the highly toxic properties of a lot of them!

Over the years I have taken quite a number of photos of fungi I have come across on walks, mainly in woodland areas where it is not too hot or dry for them (of course I cannot find any of them now!) However if you do an internet search for fungi in images then you will see what I mean, everything from the weird and wonderful to the breathtakingly beautiful.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:Sparkle N Sprinkle - Mushroom in the Forest
pale brown, dark brown, mustard yellow card
X-Press It card
white A5 card blank
rectangle die
corner rounder
leaf punch
gold greeting sticker
Copic pens

The mushroom image is printed on X-Press It card and coloured with Copics. It is then cut with a rectangle die with rounded corners, matted and layered on the brown and yellow card which have had the corners rounded to match, and attached to the card front.

The little leaves are punched out of the left over bits of brown card and attached in the bottom corners.

The corners of the card base are rounded with the punch and the greeting sticker attached across the corner.

This month, in order to have a chance to win the prize for the Most Inspirational Creation, we want to see the beauty of nature reflected in your design work. Whether you choose to draw or colour a landscape; focus on flowers; spotlight animals coming out of hibernation and/or the baby animals to follow; concentrate on the birds returning for spring; or even showcase the thawing world around you as the snow melts and the creeks and streams flow once again, it is totally up to you. Just be sure that your project contains some element of nature in a prominent manner. Whatever direction you take the beauty of nature in, we'd love to part of that journey.

If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize for Most Inspirational. We also ask that you please leave a comment letting us know how your creation relates to the concept of the beauty of nature if it isn't readily clear within the design itself or clearly written somewhere else in your post. While you may easily see how the concept of nature's beauty relates to your creation, it may not be as apparent to me or the DT members. That is why we ask that you clarify it somewhere, whether here or in your blogpost. You can simply write a sentence at the bottom of your post next to the link up for this challenge, if it would be easier. We just need to know how your project ties into the theme. Letting us know, clears up any ambiguity that may exist.

Remember, in order to be considered eligible for this month's prizes, ALL creations must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some manner. You don't need to follow the optional theme if you simply want to have a chance at the Random Draw prize, you only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win an additional sponsored prize for the project chosen as Most Inspiring.

SPONSOR & PRIZE INFORMATION:

A $15.00 gift certificate from Sparkle n Sprinkle, our sole guest sponsor this month, for the post or project that the team deems most inspiring of the bunch.

A $15.00 gift certificate from Sparkle n Sprinkle, our sole guest sponsor this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all entrants.

One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight.

It would be lovely to see you over at the Path of Positivity Challenge so please come along and join us.

Thanks for lingering a while. Take care.

Love to Craft Midway Inspiration

We are at the halfway point of this month's Love to Craft Challenge and time for some inspiration. This time I have made an ATC to share with you.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES
Materials used:A lot of bits from my snippets box!

This little ATC card is made up entirely of bits and pieces from my snippets box. The horses head is from some colouring practice a while back which I did not know what to do with at the time.

The  ATC blank is cut from a piece of black card left over from a previous project as is the stable door. The door outline and hinges are drawn by hand with a black pen (now you see why I don't draw!)

I acutally surprised myself when this all came together, a rare moment of inspiration!

Please do come and join in the fun at Love to Craft. We are an all-crafts challenge blog and welcome any and all kinds of handmade creations - from cards, tags, ATCs and scrapbook layouts - to 3-D projects, mixed media canvases and altered projects - and even knitting, crocheting, quilting and jewelry-making! Whatever you're working on, we want to see it!

Thanks for visiting. Take care.

Dragons Lair Designs April Challenge - Weddings

A new challenge at Dragons Lair Designs starts today and this month the theme is Weddings. Those of you who are regular visitors to my blog will be aware that there was a wedding in the family last August so what better opportunity than to use this challenge to make an anniversary card!

Richard and Rachel 1st Anniversary Card Topper (watermarked)
Materials used:Dragons Lair Designs - Wedding Dreams Digital Mini Kit
white printer card
wedding photos
Serif CraftArtist 2 software (if you want to try CraftArtist you can download a taster version from the Daisytrail web site.

I used the Serif CraftArtist programme to compose my card with. I have used a paper and some of the elements from the kit to make up the front of my A5 card incorporating a couple of photographs in the frames.

You could always use a bigger canvas and turn this into a scrapbook page. I may yet do that for them to add to the scrapbook I made for Rachel's 18th birthday some years ago.

I hope I have inspired you to come and join in the fun at the Dragons Lair Designs challenge. Why not take a look at the blog for more inspiration and visit the shop for some fantastic papers, digi stamps, kits and elements.

Thanks for dropping in. Take care.

Path of Positivity #48 - The Beauty of Nature

I am really blessed to live in a beautiful part of England, rural Somerset. At this time of the year the whole countryside is bursting with new life. The lambs have been frolicking in the fields for some time now and soon the ewes will be shorn and the lambs will be bigger than them! The hedgerows and field edges are ablaze with patches of colour as the spring flowers emerge from their winter sleep, the ditches and ponds are teeming with tadpoles and water bugs and the trees are stretching out the new leaves as they clothe themselves in their Spring finery. On a sunny day it all looks amazing and even on a dull wet day the beauty shines through everywhere.

Last week Tim and I went for a walk around a nearby National Trust property, Knightshayes. It was a glorious day so we gave the house a miss and just ambled around the garden. Words do not really do justice to the sights so here a few photographs to give you an idea.

This month the optional theme at the Path of Positivity Challenge is 'The Beauty of Nature' and our sponsor is Sparkle N Sprinkle. Here is my card.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Materials used:
Sparkle N Sprinkle - Friendship Flowers Digital Stamp Set
pastel pink and green card
X-Press It card
Copic pe
Britannia Dies - Small Multiflower Die
Shimmer white paper
Die cutting machine

All the images come from the Friendship Flowers set and I arranged them on an A5 document before printing onto X-Press It card. I coloured everything in with Copic pens then trimmed, matted onto pink card and layered onto green card. I then attached the topper to a A5 card blank.

The flowers are die cut from the shimmer paper, the petals cut with deckle edge scissors, coloured with Copics then formed into chrysanthemum flower heads and attached to the front of the card. I have tried to match them to the flowers in the image.

If you fancy joining us at Path of Positivity this month, it would be lovely to see you, here are the details of the challenge:

Our challenge is Anything Goes with an optional them. I think that covers it. Thank you for dropping in today. Take care.
